2008 Pontiac Torrent GXP

Pontiac is the same brand that created a whole new history of a muscle car era, it started its foray into the market with GTO in the year 1964. Pontiac believes in giving their cars a transformative effect by giving a dose of more horsepower to any standard machine. Any transportation machine, taking the example of a Torrent Crossover stays put by the brand’s philosophy and power once it comes under the banner of GXP.

Now you had like to know what is GXP? To start with, GXP is a latest version of Torrent Crossover which the company is lining up for the year 2008 to give its customers an edge at the top of all the leading car machines. The new machine is a mid size vehicle with a five door crossover. The machine comes with a package of 3.6 liter V-6 engine, that’s amazingly powerful compared to 3.4 liter V-6 engines in earlier machines. Torrent models were introduced by Pontiac way back in the year 2006, the new mega machine is capable of producing 264 horsepower, that is 80 horsepower more than what it could have produced with a 3.4 liter engine which gave the rating of 185 horsepower.

The GXP package from Pontiac is designed to meet customer’s requirements giving them maximum comfort while driving, it’s a 6 speed automatic transmission machine having a manual shift control with a polished 18 inches rims along with 50 series Eagle RS-A performance tires by Goodyear. The machine contains a unique hood which has a twin pressed in “aero scoops” and a dual exhaust tips which juts out of the rear valance. At the front there are project style fog lamps giving better visibility. The suspension of the machine is lowered in this version which gives more firmness. It has an electronic traction stability control system and has heated front seats, the machine includes a performance gauge cluster and specific special exterior and interior trims for the comfort.

The new GXP machine can be ordered in 2 versions one is front wheel drive costing $27,830 and another one is an all-wheel drive costing $28,980. Isn’t it amazing having a great choice most of the times a performance crossover or a wagon comes only with an all-wheel drive which is mandatory. Now you can have your choice and select what you need because not everyone needs or wants an AWD but it is always desirable to have a choice having that extra mileage and power. If you are going for AWD system, it adds up to 140 pounds and slows your GXP by a little extent and cuts down on your fuel economy.
