India has an age old history in automobile industry. Since the first car was launched in the country, it has witnessed many advancements and innovations that have continuously changed the overall appearance of the industry in the global car market.

In the present scenario, Indian automobile landscape is showcasing a number of cars and other vehicles with a combination of technology and consumer-friendly price tags. It displays a variety of cars in different price segments ranging from a small car of Rs 1 lakh to a high-end luxury car worth Rs 5 crore. These cars with such a huge difference in price tags cater to different sections of the society.

The first and perhaps the most noteworthy example of the growing Indian car industry is the soon-to-be-launched Tata Nano. This homegrown frugal car is simply a small wonder. After the unique engine technology and price tag of Tata Nano, global car manufacturers have their eye on Indian engineers and technology. The car expected to hit in the festive season is a big threat to the small car segment in the global market.

Other than Nano, there are many other small wonders soon to be seen on Indian roads. First in line is the car manufacturing leader, Maruti Suzuki, who is all set to roll out its small car, Maruti-Suzuki A-Star. Then there is a car codenamed as ULC (ultra-low cost), proposed to be designed and produced by a joint venture between Bajaj Auto and the Renault-Nissan. Following the trend, Honda, Seil India, Hyundai Motors, Czech Skoda India, General Motors and even Toyota is planning to design an exclusive small car in the Indian car market. The trend of producing small cars with upmarket and innovative technology has itself paved a path for global car manufacturers to reach India.

The unique combination of innovations and technologies in Indian small cars has also redefined the concept of luxury cars in the country. As new technologies are banking on small cars, the differentiation line between small and luxury cars seems to fade away except the size and price. This compelled luxury car manufacturers to re-define the structure, body lines and interiors of all their car models so that a broad differentiation line always stay in between. The redefined luxury car segment is another aspect of the growing Indian car market.

Luxury car manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Rolls Royce have introduced a number of luxury cars for sale in the Indian car market. They are still in process of rolling out more cars with better engine technology and futuristic features. With the increasing number of people showing their interest in luxury cars, these manufacturers are earning good revenues, compelling them to strengthen their footprints in India.

For those looking for sheer luxury on wheels a slew of launches will hit the Indian market. BMW will drive in its new 7 Series and its sportier M3, M5 and M6 followed by the sports utility range the BMW X6. Rolls Royce will roll out more number of Rolls Royce Phantom cars for sale whereas Porsche is ready to hit India with its exciting Porsche Cayenne GTS and the Porsche 911 new GT2. Few new Volkswagen cars, Mitsubishi cars, and Toyota cars are also on their way to India.

Experts believe that a wide assortment of options is available in India to suit different sections of people. The market is even more promising with low-cost production, highly skilled engineers and easy availability of car loans. All these factors along with the increasing number of cars on Indian roads, has become a strong reason for global car manufacturers to savour India.

In 1938 the German automaker Volkswagen released their version of the economy car called the Volkswagen Type 1, or more commonly referred to as the Volkswagen Beetle. The names “Bug” and “Beetle” were adopted by the public, but it was not until late 1967 that Volkswagen began using the name “Beetle” in their marketing. It was previously known as only the “Type 1″ or the 1200, 1300, or 1500, which were the names it had been marketed under in Europe prior to 1967. The numbers indicated the size of the vehicle’s engine in cubic centimeters.

The 1967 model of the Volkswagen car underwent a few changes, the car itself didn’t get bigger, but many of the mechanical systems and components did. Some changes to the Bug included a larger engine. Output of the electrical generator had been increased from 180 watts to 360, and also had been upgraded from the old 6-volt system to the 12-volt system. The clutch disk was also made larger and changes had been made to the braking system, the flywheel, and rear axles.

Although the VW Bug has been widely despised for its styling, rough ride, weak power, along with high noise levels, it was also the longest and most produced vehicle for a single design.

The “Beetle” or “Bug” whichever you wish to call it also played a roll in the military. In 1935 prototypes of the Kdf-Wagen appeared. Produced by Daimlet-Benz in Stuttgart, Germany the first prototypes were born. With its already peculiar round shape, and the rear-mounted, air-cooled engine. The factory only produced a small number of the cars for sale by the time war began in 1939. The first mass-produced version of the Beetle were used for military vehicles, like the Schwimmwagen and the Kubelwagen.

The military bug was created to be as simple as possible, so that little could go wrong. The 985cc air-cooled motor proved to be effective with German Afrika Korps in Africa’s desert heat with The built in oil cooler and the superb performance of the flat four, or “pancake” engine configuration. The suspension was equipped with compact torsion beams in place of the more commonly used coil or leaf spring suspensions.

Once World War II was over, the shortage of jobs led to the reopening of the factory in Wolfsburg by Allied forces. The production of the Beetle from then on recommenced. The production increased massively over the next decade, with the one millionth car rolling off of the assembly line in 1955. The Bug’s performance was far superior compared to other automobiles in its category with a top speed of 72 mph. The production was surpassing 16 million in 1972, and by the 23rd of June in 1992 the company had sold over 21 million of the cars.

The Volkswagen Beetle is the world’s best selling design with the same name. This luxury car outlasted most all of the other vehicles who had copied the rear-mounted air-cooled engine layout like those by Subaru, and General Motors.

The Beetle began to phase-out in 2003. The annual production ad reduced to 30,000 from its peak of 1.3 million in 1971. As the last Beetle rolled off of the assembly line, it was shipped off to the Volkswagen company museum in Wolfsburg, Germany.

In 1998 Volkswagen introduced the Volkswagen New Beetle Car for sale which was designed to look a lot like the classic Beetle. The new Beetle was designed with a water cooled engine being placed in the front of the car. The new VW Beetle has turned out to be a very popular car and has become a pop culture icon and been featured in many movies.

The GMC plans to build diesel-powered vehicles under the Cadillac and Saturn brands in the United States. This information, as reported by Automotive News online journal, was divulged by the company’s head honcho Bob Lutz.

As gasoline prices continue to increase and more people become anxious about global warming issues, automakers are starting to make alternative fuels a bit more of a priority. The Toyota Motor Corp. has already announced that everything will be a hybrid. But the team at GM is taking a somewhat diverse approach.

Lutz recently dropped a pretty major bomb saying that the largest American automaker is working on a diesel-electric hybrid platform.

Lutz confirmed that the Detroit automaker would use clean diesel engines in passenger cars, sport utility vehicles and other light-duty trucks. He stressed, however, that emissions hardware and control systems needed to meet the standards would add another $2,000 to $2,800 to the $1,000-$2,000 premium that already exists for diesels over gasoline-engine cars.

A diesel car in Europe is not that big a deal, but when the Detroit Motor Show rolls, the Detroit automaker plans on sporting the same e-flex technology in a Saturn, most likely the Aura sedan. And then,it’ll end up in a Cadillac, and there will be a front-wheel-drive version of the engine.

GMC will not only be showcasing a stylish Saturn vent visor or a striking Cadillac façade - the automaker intends to deliver a slice of what is to come regarding its lineup. The e-flex powertrain was first shown in the Chevy Volt which was displayed. It is where a traditional engine such as a diesel or gasoline engine, recharges a battery pack that provides power for an electric motor.

The United States will gradually begin enforcing the world’s strictest regulations for harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions, and GM has been tepid about clean diesel engines as a remedy for bolstering fuel economy citing the high cost of development.

Historically, diesel engines have been difficult to initiate, as they are typically designed to be large torque monsters in most applications. But at idle they sip comparatively little fuel, so truckers take pleasure in A/C and television in their crew cabs while the engine runs overnight. But there is certainly no reason to run a modern diesel any longer than necessary.

Whether you buy the 2005 Hummer H2 as a status symbol or for its truly powerful off-roading capability, owner say you won’t be disappointed.  This year, the “smaller-size” version of the original Hummer adds a pick-up like trim to its lineup — the SUT.  This features an uncovered 3-foot long bed, hardly big enough to be of any use, but a Midgate wall can be removed and a rear window powered into the bed to expand the capacity to six feet long (with the rear seats folded down).  Unlike the cargo area in the SUV, the SUT bed has tie-downs and drain holes and can be hosed out.  Also new on both the base and SUT is 9 extra horsepower, boosting the 6.0-liter V8 to 325-hp and 365 lb-ft of torque.

Because of the rear cargo bed, the SUT seats five, compared to the SUV’s five-passenger seating.  A third row is optional in the SUV car.  The 2005 Hummer H2 car for sale not only stands out for its size, but for its full-time AWD power with low-range gearing.  It is able to tackle any off-roading situation as if it were driving down a smooth blacktop.  Standard skid plates, 10-inch ground clearance, and a driver-selected rear differential also help in this regard, and all 2005 Hummer H2s come with dual front airbags, traction control, and 4-wheel ABS brakes.  A self-leveling suspension is optional.  Towing capacity is nearly 7000 pounds.

For those less interested in rugged road power and more interested in entertaining friends, the Hummer H2 is also a luxury car inside, with heated leather seats, full power features, a CD player, and OnStar.  Drivers love its style, AWD performance, solid power, and say they feel safe in the oversized military vehicle.  With the size comes less city maneuverability, and the ride height makes it difficult to get into.  Other downsides are blind spots, lack of cargo room, and some engine noise on acceleration.  Pitiful gas mileage is expected and doesn’t come into play when deciding whether or not to buy a 2005 Hummer H2.

Selling a used car is preferable to trading. You’ll receive close to full retail value rather than accepting wholesale value if you trade.

Prepare to sell your used car :

Psychology is a powerful and important part of buying and selling cars. Perception can be reality. What a potential buyer thinks and feels about your used car might be a Chevrolet car, BMW, Honda, Mitsubishi etc is more important than facts and figures. If a potential buyer sees your car is filthy inside and out, she is very likely to assume, rightly or wrongly, that you don’t take any better care of your car in other ways.

The implication might be that you don’t change your oil, don’t perform regular maintenance, don’t make necessary repairs, and don’t take care when driving. So, the simple fact that you didn’t take the time to clean up your car could easily kill a possible deal.

Although some savvy buyers might look past the dirt on your car and see it for what it really is, you really don’t want to assume that this will always be the case. On the other side of the coin, a beautifully immaculate car can cover up poor maintenance and serious problems. Buyers who are blinded by the glow and shine can make serious mistakes if they don’t look further.

Pricing properly :

One of the biggest predicaments facing used car sellers is what price to ask. A price that is too high will discourage potential buyers. A price that is too low means money unnecessarily thrown away.

Unfortunately, there are no standard prices for used cars. There are a number of guidebooks (some only available to dealers and lenders) and online pricing sources, such as Edmunds, Kelley Blue Book, and NADA Guide, that are just that — guides. Prices can vary from one area of the country to another and can be affected by short-term new-car discounting and rebates.

Where to sell your used car :

There are essentially two ways you can sell your car, depending on how quickly you want to sell and how much money you want. First, you can sell wholesale. This means you sell to a dealer for a low wholesale price and the dealer resells at a higher retail price to make a profit. Carmax is an example of a major dealer that buys used cars from individuals.

If you have a relatively new, clean, low/average mileage vehicle, you should talk to new car dealers who have a used car lot. They may be interested, especially if the car is of the same make that they sell new.

Otherwise, talk to independent used car dealers, especially CarMax, if you have them in your area. Wholesale auctions in your area are also a possibility, but be aware that there are fees involved.

How to negotiate :

Light haggling should be expected when selling a used car. The buyer typically knows you set your price high and wants your “selling” price. They may have already done some pricing research.

Start by offering your asking price and explain why you feel the price is fair, based on your own research. Point out the positive features and characteristics of your car. Some good “positives” could be the following:

    * low mileage
    * add-on equipment
    * original owner
    * no accidents
    * low insurance costs
    * low maintenance costs
    * remaining warranty
    * good gas mileage

Closing the deal :

After you and the buyer have agreed upon a price for your used car, all that remains is the exchange of goods, title, and money — and a paper record of the transaction, generally called a Bill of Sale.

The reason that it can be a problem to separate the different models is that, being a German vehicle producer, and having a German mentality. BMW seems to have avoided what it presumably see’s as unnecessary glamorous and evocative names for all of its vehicles.

Instead, this manufacturer of some of the finest luxury vehicles in the world opted, with great German logic, to simply number each of different series of models, with a complex set of numbers and letters.

We shall try to unravel the mysteries of the German car manufacturing mind, by listing the different models, so that hopefully you may comprehend the BMW range.

BMW currently produces the 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series, as well as SUVs that naturally to the German’s, have the letter X and two-seater roadsters, perhaps you guessed that these all use the letter Z.

Each of the BMW designations refer to either the first number or alternatively to the first letter of the name. A good example would be the 518, 520i or the 530i, obviously each model is one of the ‘5′ Series. As the Series numbers get higher, the vehicle will become not only physically larger in size, it will also become more expensive for BMW car leasing.

Therefore, now that we are starting to understand the numbering system, we can examine the subtle differences between each of the BMW series.

Beginning with the lowest number, the 1 Series are the company’s smaller vehicles, which are relatively less expensive when considering BMW car leasing. The luxury cars in this series were conceived to be in competition with cars such as the Volkswagen Golf, and cars of a similar size and stature. All the BMW cars for sale in this series are rear wheel drive models.

Going up to the next number, the 3 series of BMW’s luxury models, were originally designed and produced, to be the company’s most reasonably priced and smallest models. Which for many years they were, until the company designed the 1 Series models.

The ‘3′ models have a very clear and defined target market of younger professionals, on their way up in the world. However, for whom the more prestigious 5 or 7 series vehicles are financially out of reach. The 3 series has proved to be an incredibly successful model and is in fact the worlds best selling ‘Beemer’.

In what the company considers, to be in its mid-range of vehicles is the 5 series. This is the ultimate in junior executive to transportation. For many BMW fans, the 5 is the superior model, as they believe that this series can offer the best value for money, while still retaining the ‘wow’ factor.

The big boy of the group is the highly prestigious 7 Series, which just screams ‘the boss’s car’. For those that can afford this top of the range BMW contract hire executive saloon, they offer the ultimate in ‘I’ve made it’ driving status. These vehicles are clearly in the same range as the top of the tree, Mercedes and Jaguars cars. In addition, for those can have deep enough pockets BMW car leasing can be a serious statement of ownership, of a piece of high quality German engineering.

For many car owners with a family, who drive mainly in the city, compact cars can be the best choice. For drivers who mostly drive alone, a compact car is a great alternative to the unnecessary extra bulk and fuel consumption of larger cars while offering the versatility of a car that can seat more passengers when necessary. Compact cars provide value and savings to their owners because of their small size.

Compact cars are not as big as the mid-size automobile and are larger than the mini car, which is also known as the subcompact car. Compact cars can be found in two or four door versions with different sizes of trunk space. This new or used cars for sale are available with with many features to suit different budgets. Since the car is smaller than other cars, the price for compact cars is much less than it is for larger vehicles.

The size of compact cars offer some advantages over heavier vehicles. A larger car requires more fuel to move its weight along. This means that compact cars are fuel efficient in comparison. The wheelbase for compact cars ranges from between 100 to 105 inches for North American vehicles. The cubic space of the pasenger and trunk space in a compact car is approximately between 100 and 109 cubic feet for US compact cars. Compact and subcompact cars will have a range of being to travel between 20 - 50 miles per gallon of gas, depending on the maker and model.

Many important car manufacturers are producing compact cars as a solution for consumers who want better efficiency from their automobiles. You can find compact cars like Chevrolet, Citroen, Fiat, Honda, Hyundai, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Puegeot, Sabaru, Saturn, Scion, Saturn, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo cars for sale. The variety of styling of compact cars makes these cars attractive to many car buyers. Consumers can find compact cars that are in sporty, luxury, station wagon and sedan car styles. There are compact cars that combine luxury features and finishing touches with compact sensibility for the most discriminating car owner. Compact cars can offer the same reliability as larger automobiles do.

For some consumers, the idea of a accident involving another vehicle with a compact car can deter them from buying a compact car. As a solution, there are safety features for consumers who want greater protection from their compact cars. The frame of a compact car can be designed to withstand impact and made from material that will maximize the strength of the car’s frame.

In these days when gas prices are rising and the pollution caused from fuel consumption is worsening, it makes sense to drive a compact car. Not only is it possible to save money and gas, consumers can reduce their impact on the environment by driving a compact car. Compact cars can satisfy the personal taste and budget of drivers who need a vehicle with reliability, different features and more miles per gallon of gas.
